There is increasing evidence that writing is an effective therapeutic medium and one which can promote healing and growth for individuals.
In this workshop we will explore why writing works and how different techniques can be used by clients and therapists. We will look at different types of therapeutic writing [cathartic, reflective, process and integrative writing] and techniques [e.g. unsent letters, dialogues, lists, perspectives and more] and how they can be used in a structured way within a therapeutic context.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience various techniques within a safe environment and to discuss how they might use them in their practice.
There will be a particular emphasis on journal writing as a way of developing intimacy with the self, finding a voice and exploring the unspoken and the unspeakable for ourselves and our clients.
