Emmy van Deurzen is a counselling psychologist, psychotherapist and philosopher.

She is an international authority on existential psychotherapy who established existential therapy in the UK. She founded, directed and developed both Regent’s College School of Psychotherapy and Counselling and the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling in London. She is Professor of Psychotherapy with Schiller International University, Honorary Professor with the University of Sheffield, where she co-directs the Centre for the Study of Conflict and Reconciliation and Visiting Professor with Middlesex University, for whom she directs two masters and two doctoral programmes at NSPC. She founded the Society for Existential Analysis (SEA) and its Journal Existential Analysis in 1988 and co-founded the International Collaborative of Existential Counsellors and Psychotherapists (ICECAP) in 2006. She was the first chair of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.
Amongst her books are the bestseller Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling in Practice (2nd edition Sage, 2002), which was widely translated as well as her book Psychotherapy and the Quest for Happiness (Sage, 2009). A co-edited book on Existential Supervision came out in 2009 and the second edition of her textbook Everyday Mysteries was published by Routledge in 2010, whilst Sage is publishing her new co-authored book on Skills in Existential Counselling and Psychotherapy, also in 2010.
As Director of Dilemma Consultancy Ltd. she is responsible for implementing the new CEP materials both with the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling in London and with Dilemma Training. She will also oversee the French and Dutch translations of the materials as she is fluent in these languages. She has participated in several previous European projects with Dilemma and brings this experience of coordination to the project as well.
Researcher: Susan Iacovou
Susan is a psychologist, counsellor, writer and trainer.
Formerly head of Deloitte’s Human Resource Consultancy services in Scotland, Susan has designed, written and delivered training and development projects within the UK, Europe, Africa and the former Soviet Union. She is the author of two books and a range of award winning training and development packs, as well as a number of magazine and journal articles. Susan teaches on the SEPTIMUS online training programme in psychotherapy at Sheffield University, and at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling in London. Her research interests include the impact of active service on the relationships of armed forces’ personnel and the development of online training methodologies. In her role as Research Associate on the CEP project, Susan plays a key role in project administration and communication, the development of tutor and student support materials, creation of the online multi-language lexicon, development of the Moodle site, and the review and updating of the learning materials.

The New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling was founded in 1996, in order to further develop training and create a place for excellence in this field. It runs a foundation course and two joint masters and doctoral programmes together with Middlesex University. These are the programmes that will benefit from the CEP programme.

Mia is a full time professor at the Psychology Department.

She teaches Professional Ethics and an Introduction to Counseling Skills to huge groups of students (350-400) at bachelor level. She teaches Person-centered/experiential/existential psychotherapy for groups of 100-150 students at master level. She is a staff member of the postgraduate psychotherapy training in Person centered/experiential/existential psychotherapy. This is 4 year master after master program for a selected group of students. The topics of her research are: ethical dilemma’s, meaning in life, body oriented interventions in therapy, spirituality integrated therapy, the person of the therapist. She is the academic responsible professor for the Leuven part of the Leonardo course. This course is recognized by the Leuven University and leads to the official certificate of ‘Counselor in existential wellbeing’.
Researcher: Claude Missiaen
Claude is clinical psychologist and client-centered/experiential psychotherapist since 1986.

He is research associate in the Leonardo project and mentor in the training ‘Counselor in existential wellbeing’. He is supervisor and teacher in the postgraduate psychotherapy training in Person centered/experiential/existential psychotherapy of the Katholieke Universteit Leuven and has a private practice as psychotherapist/trainer.
